Tong Sui is a Cantonese word for “sugar water” that refers to a wide variety of sweet soupy desserts.
Tong Sui is typically served in bowls, making them an ideal dessert for sharing with a group. Tong Sui are often made from simple ingredients like milk, taro, coconut milk and jelly, or they can be made with exotic ingredients like Papaya and Pandan leaves.
There are many different ways to make Tong Sui: some are made with gelatinous substances such as tapioca bubble, while others use more traditional methods such as boiling the ingredients together in water until it forms a thick texture.
